The Diaconate

Mission: Ordained to a ministry of service. The deacon's service is three-fold:

service of the Word - proclaiming the Gospel message, teaching, conducing retreats, counseling

service of the altar - witnessing marriages, baptizing, presiding at wakes and funerals, conducting prayer services and Holy Communion

and service of charity - serving the poor, giving voice to those who are silenced, being involved in social injustice and rendering service to the sick and shut-in

Purpose: As the New Testament Diaconate, we are to serve the Lord by conducting the caring ministry of the church, doing the benevolence work, visiting the sick, being alert tot he spiritual needs of the congregation for the purpose of freeing the Pastor. Additionally, to focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word promoting unity within the church, and facilitating the spread of the Gospel. Furthermore, the deacons form a Godly council for the Pastor to provide both accountability of the flock, availability for service, and advice.

Goals: Serving God's people

serving with Christ-like integrity

assimilating, nurturing, and reconciling brothers and sisters in a spirit of trust and discernment

Spirit-led witnessing to the body of Christ, the Church the Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord

Caregivers, utilizing their spiritual gifts in a ministry that provides for the total well-being of God's people
